Maternal Grandparents (Amamma and Thathaya)
The original photo was taken shortly after their wedding. I was able to talk to family to narrow down the colors on my Amamma's saree and jewelry, we still have some of what's she's wearing. However, no one knew the colors of what my Thathaya had on so I just went with what I liked. I already knew of the resemblance between them and my Amma and her siblings, but adding color made it clearer than ever. |
Mom, Uncles, and Aunt (Amma, Mammas, and Pedi)
My Amma and her siblings had to walk some vague large distance after school one day to get this photo taken. You can tell my youngest Mammas face that they were tired. My mom got her green skirt made special for this photo. Today, I look a lot like my mom, and cousins look a lot like their parents. The crazy thing is, the age differences worked out the same. My littlest cousin is my youngest Mamma's son and my oldest cousin is my Pedi's daughter. We want to recreate this photo but we've never all been in the same country at the same time, let alone the same room. I'm hoping we can do it soon because my littlest cousin is getting too big to carry. |
Paternal Grandparents (Nanamma and Thathaya) and dad
For this photo I was able to ask my grandmother directly what color I should use. She couldn't remember her blouse color, but everything else is based on her memory of this day. We have no idea what my dad is holding in his hands. We suspect it was given to him as a bribe to stay still for the photo. That sounds plausible to me. |
*Under Construction*
Dad's School Photo Still in the works is my dad's class photo. Since his graduation, the school has become co-ed and changed its uniforms. I'm sure they've made other changes, but that's all I know about. My dad is the freakishly tall kid on the left side (he's fine with me saying that). |
